Tertini and Knight Berrima Valley Arneis 2006
$25; 13% alcohol; screw cap; 93 points
Fresh ginger root smells nearly as good as redheads in my book. This wine’s oozing ginger: juicy, provocative, and tantalising. Almonds, too, which is more typical of arneis, the fiery strawberry blonde of Italy’s piedmontese biancos. As you’d expect, the palate’s unusually gingery, too, with dry, pithy tannins and an aftertaste like the rainbarrel was bobbing with fresh lemons. I can’t wait to try it with drunken chicken. The contrast will be salacious. www.tertiniwines.com.au
